Before you sit down to the Thanksgiving feast at your Washington DC home, consider working up a hearty appetite at the 12th Annual Thanksgiving Day Trot for Hunger. Proceeds from the 5K go to SOME (So Others May Eat), an organization that has worked for 40 years to help homeless men, women, and children who live in Washington DC get food, clothing, and healthcare. On Thursday, November 28th, meet at Freedom Plaza, on the corner of 13th Street, NW and Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. The Kids’ One Mile Little Turkey Fun Run will begin at 8:30 a.m. The 5K Run/Walk begins at 9 a.m.
Everyone in your Washington DC home can participate. This is a great way to help children realize how blessed they are and to teach them about volunteerism and helping others. The cost to participate is $20 for untimed runners and walkers and $30 for timed. Participants are also encouraged to fundraise, to help as many people as possible.
Trot for Hunger is a great Thanksgiving tradition near your Washington DC home. Get as many of your friends and family to donate and participate as possible. Click here for more information and to register for the Trot.
