The GW Healing Clinic is operated by medical and allied health students of George Washington University. These students work in the clinic on a volunteer basis, with attending physicians also volunteering their time. They serve the people who live in DC metro area homes in the Howard Shaw neighborhood. Patients are provided with primary care no matter what their insurance status is or if they can pay for services.
Since the clinic is staffed by volunteer physicians and students, its costs are kept relatively low. To keep the clinic operating, there are a couple of fundraisers held during the year. Everyone living in DC metro area homes is invited to participate. The next event is the Heel-to-Heal 5K Walk/Run. It will be held on Saturday, October 5th at the C&O Towpath in Georgetown. Sign in is at 8 a.m. The race begins at 9 a.m.
The walk/run is a costume race with a medical theme. Put on your white coat or nurse’s cap and come on out! There are prizes for the best costume. Top fundraisers will also receive a great prize. Businesses operating near DC metro area homes should consider sponsoring the event. Click here to read more about the walk/run.
