live in Washington DC with outdoor moviesSummer is a great time for family movie nights if you live in Washington DC! Check out the schedule of summer movies at Carter Barron Amphitheatre.  On Friday August 23rd, you can enjoy The Avengers.  Then on Saturday, August 24th OZ The Great and Powerful will be screened.

The films start at dusk, around 8:15 p.m. and gates will open at 7 p.m.  The films are free and no tickets are required.  What a great opportunity for film buffs (and their kids) who live in Washington DC!  Click here for a schedule of movies and summer concerts.

The Carter Barron Amphitheatre is located at 16th & Colorado Avenue.  It’s a great outdoor venue in Rock Creek Park.  Enjoy your movie in a lovely wooded setting.  Who would have known that so close to urban Washington DC homes is a huge and beautiful park right along the Potomac River?

In the afternoon, plan a picnic and a hike over the 25 miles of trails, then go on to the movies.  Whether you want to plan a family outing with the kids or just have a quiet afternoon in the woods, Rock Creek Park is a great resource when you live in Washington DC.
