This happening club has hosted some of the greatest touring musicians on the globe and is a favorite stop for many musicians. Table seating, an intimate atmosphere, a dinner menu, beer and cocktail offerings set the Birchmere apart from other music venues in the area.
Linda Ronstadt, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Lyle Lovett, Dave Matthews, Vince Gill and Emmylou Harris are among the scores of notable artists who have performed at this beloved venue over the years. The Birchmere has shows most nights and presents a wide range of music and other live performances. A dance floor adjacent to the stage is available for the majority of shows.

During the redevelopment of downtown Silver Spring, Maryland, a plan was proposed to build a second Birchmere venue, estimated to be an $8 million, 800-seat venue. After many years of negotiations, the deal was rejected in July 2007. At the time, Birchmere management claimed that Montgomery County officials breached an agreement with the music venue, but these claims were disputed by the developers and government officials who denied any obligation for development.
In 2010, as part of the University of Maryland‘s East Campus redevelopment plan, the Birchmere plans to develop a two-story, 25,000-square-foot dining and entertainment facility adjacent to the university’s property.
